I can’t remember the last time Tottenham sat 10 places and 10 points ahead of Chelsea in the Premier League table.
It has been a season of club records for both. Spurs’ are unbeaten in 12 – since the opening day of the season – which is their best ever run in the Premier League.
Mauricio Pochettino’s infamous training regime and demands on work rate has sorted the men from the boys. Erik Lamela now looks to have the adult body his talent needed. Furthermore, the manager’ bold selections, like using Eric Dier in midfield and fast-tracking youngsters like Dele Alli have also sent well-heeded messages.
Harry Kane took a little while to warm up but has hit his stride with seven goals in his last four games. He will face one of his England buddies on Sunday (Gary Cahill), but John Terry is likely to miss the match through injury.
Of course, that is not the miss it once was. But clean sheets have been the bedrock of Jose’s teams and two in two could signal something of a return to normal.
Prediction: Neither will turn their nose up to a draw. 1-1
